easter.

what? easter was a week ago? no way. good thing i can change the schedule on posting this so that it'll look like i did it somewhat close to easter.

to start off our easter weekend, levi broke our car. well, he changed our oil friday night, and then the car started gushing oil when we turned it on, so we had to get it towed to toyota from our house. levi looked super cool telling the tow truck driver that he changed the oil and now he can't drive it haha so we rented a car and drove up saturday morning. turns out, we had a faulty oil filer from amazon. curse you.

zak was absolutely thrilled to get a new car to drive. unfortunately for him, he didn't get to keep it, he loves his gadgets. especially push start engines. and navigation. his mom loves some gadgets too. someday.....

anyways. easter was great. we went to the beach house again, and it was lover-ly. we spent saturday relaxing, eating, sleeping, and getting away. it was so nice to be able to relax.

saturday night, we watched the rise of the guardians and zak was in heaven. he loved the easter bunny, and is convinced that he can talk to him.

sunday we woke up and found that the raccoons had snatched all of the eggs the easter bunny hid. well, they left the eggs, and ate all the candy out of them. zak was not impressed. luckily for him, the easter bunny hid a lot of eggs inside too in case it rained. but he is the easter egg master finder.

the easter bunny brought zak puzzles, matching games, candy, dump trucks. he loved it. he loves matching games. and he's creepily good at them. loveesssss them.

greysen got an ipad and remote in his easter basket. he was very very excited.

starting a new tradition, because mom and dad love presents too, the easter bunny brought dad the hobbit in his easter basket, and shoes in mom's. he knows us so well.

after opening our baskets and eating candy and donuts for breakfast, we went to church and enjoyed it. i spent a few scripture readings the last month talking to zak about the real meaning of easter, and love that he understood what i was talking about, even though the easter bunny is a little more cool than the resurrection. but that's ok, at least he gives me the right answers when i ask him why we celebrate easter.

 i am a giant.

we had the most delicious easter dinner. prime rib, potatoes. nom nom nom. looking at this picture, i could eat it all over again.

greysen liked our dinner too. haha.

all in all it was a very successful easter. i love being able to spend time with our family and have our own traditions that we get to continue every year.

grandparentals.

levi's parents originally were supposed to go on a fabulous trip with us to Big Sur for his break. but then he went and decided that he needs to be an oral surgeon and do lots of extra stuff {i'm not a little bitter about not having a spring break, obviously} so we cancelled our trip and just stuck around here with them, so they could see levi for a few moments.

unfortunately, he spent most of his free weekend sick, so that was thrilling. but i'm sure they enjoyed seeing him for the couple times they did.

we started their time here, by taking them to off the grid in fort mason. so fun. zak absolutely loved it. he's a people person, what can i say.

and then of course, grandma needed her sundae from ghiradelli's, so we definitely couldn't pass that goodness up. that sounds delicious right now. i need my spouse to get home with our food!

on saturday, levi and his parents drove ferrari's around candlestick park while i went to breakfast with some friends and their kids, i don't have any pictures from that obviously, but they enjoyed themselves.

to make it somewhat of a vacay, we went to the beach house and showed grandpa and grandma our favorite spots. like phil's fish market. the most amazing clam chowder, and any other type of seafood you could want.

sunday we made the effort to go to church, but it was stake conference, so instead we went to the santa cruz boardwalk. it was nice and warm. and minus zak wanting to go on every ride that we didn't want to pay for {i can't believe it starts this young!} it was awesome! we had funnel cake, pretzels and tons of delicious things. love me some warm weather.

levi left to go work at an oral surgeon's office for his externship at 5:00 monday morning, so we stayed at the beach house and played for a bit, before deciding to go to the outlets and head home so we could spend more time with levi.

this was the best part of the outlets. the troller car. his face. haha.
needless to say, our children were not totally thrilled shopping. but they were such good troopers. love them.

after we went to a japanese cook it in front of you place for dinner, we came home and surprised zak and levi with a mini birthday party so they could celebrate with grandpa and grandma. it was pretty fun, both had no idea, so that's always a treat ;)

as you can tell, zak was super stoked. they got him some sports things to make him a more well rounded child. haha

we tried to dye eggs with grandpa, but the interest was lacking. probably due to the four days in a row zak went without a nap because we were doing such fun things. by the end of their trip, he was whiny, tired, cranky, and whiny

we spent the next three days recovering from their fabulous trip here, and getting our lives back on schedule so mom doesn't want to kill everyone by 4:00 ;) so fun to have adventures with grandma and grandpa though, if only we could see them more often!

party hard.

to celebrate levi being done with finals before he went to the hospital for oral surgery rounds, we went to a delicious hamburger place on fillmore, and couldn't pass up sift on the way back. levi's samoa cupcake was to die for. i could go for one of those right now. nom nom nom.

p.s. notice their matching shirts. zak wanted to match greysen today. boys are so fun.
the weather was gorgeous and we always love getting to explore the city more often.

zak also invited dad to go to rockin jump during one of his reading days. and like any man, who could pass up the opportunity to jump on trampolines and do tricks as much as you want?

don't mind my crappy pictures.
the foam pit is way too hard for zak to climb out of. so much easier to hitch a ride on dad.

both of them had a blast. zak got tired in half the time he usually does because dad just keeps going. he loved it.

dad got approximately one day off this break. which was super lame. buuut, we decided to make the most of what we got, by "inviting dad to go play with us" as zak would say. sad day when your kid has to invite you to go play with them instead of assuming you will go with them. but in any case, we had fun while it lasted.

for our one and only partial day off before levi's parents came, we ventured to the discovery museum to show dad our favorite place.

i'd say it was pretty successful for them. i love when i have someone else to entertain zak while i can just snuggle with greysen. and plus, it's always fun when daddy comes to do things with us.

loves of the day.

some things i'm loving now.

my new lipstick. i consider this an achievement, because we rarely get dressed. but when we do, for some reason red lips add an extra pizazz. if only i could get over the fear of having it on my teeth though.

ha. someone else loves lipstick too. note: i did not help him do that.

zak's adorable new shoes. love me some nordstrom rack goodness. especially when they have shoes that don't require me actually lacing them, because it's pretty much the worst. dang right i have "no time to lace".

these moobs. man. boobs. moobs. i guess i could just write boobs. baby boobs. in any case, i love them. his fatness is so ridiculously fun. i just want to squish him all the time. =)

my sunflowers from costco. they just brighten up the day.

the fact that greysen just might be getting enough hair to have bed head. it's only taken 8 months. come on baby, let's start looking like a kid and not like an old man!

zak's easter egg painting. it's quite beautiful. we've finally learned how to not make everything brown by smearing all the colors together. i think it's pretty cute.

my new iphone screen.  i spent way too much time downloading all these shortcuts for my apps. but everytime i look at it, it makes me happy. it's an asian app call cocoppa if you want to waste three hours of your life changing your phone.

driving across the bridge 1. with no traffic. and 2. on a gorgeous day!

when dad gets to come play with us. zak's been counting down until he could push dad into the foam pit at rockin jump. his life has been made today.

these ridiculously dumb eggs. that only look good from far away because pinterest sucks balls and  makes crafts look easy. so i guess i only kind of like them. but i still am glad i have some easter decorating going on here.

this bracelet. i'm addicted to this dumb website. and every time i see this bracelet come up i seriously debate getting it. but then i become too cheap because twenty five bucks... now that's just too much. apparently i'm not an expensive jewelry person. my husband should thank me. but j crew has this bracelet for $125 and i covet it quite frequently. i should just man up and buy this one.
i'm glad to see that my browsing tonight consisted of pinterest, pinterest, pinterest, facebook, blogging, shopping and facebook. thrilling. and to think my husband says he's going to pull an all nighter for his finals while i do this. i feel so productive.
