chubba wubba.

the title is what we refer to the little beast as. because he in fact, is such a chubba wubba face. i'm so glad his squishy cheeks are still around. they're just totally adorable. i haven't posted anything about him in a while, because let's be honest, he really has not changed since like 3 months.

this kid.... may be the laziest most content child i've ever met. he can't crawl yet, however he will do pushups and the worm to get to places he wants to go. which is usually accompanied by whining and/or crying about it. you would think babies could figure out that the way they are doing things is waaaay too much work, but no.

however, his new obsession is standing with support. if he could figure out how to do it all day, i guarantee he would. he loves to try and look at what zak is doing, and be off the floor. and he is so incredibly proud of himself when he can pull himself up and do it himself.

he's also begun scaling things, and walking along anything to get to what he wants. it's so crazy to finally watch him be motivated to do anything.

he continues to be the happiest baby ever. no joke. minus him being sick this past week and him having a severe case of separation anxiety from mom, the rest of the time he is partying, playing and jumping.

we call this his shnooser face, because he makes the most ridiculous blowing sounds out of his nose when he does it. it's so cute, unless he does it when you're trying to feed him, as a "i definitely do not want whatever you are trying to feed me" sign.

speaking of food, he has gotten a little more feisty when it comes to eating. there are very few things he will eat more than once in a couple days. those which he absolutely loves include: bananas, trader joe's mac and cheese, pb&j sandwiches, cheerios, blueberries most of the time, and anything that is off of our plates and not his. despite my hard work at baby led weaning, he is turning into his brother, where he would rather eat the baby food versions of food, than the real thing. it's very annoying.

other little tid bits- at 9 months, he weighed 21 lbs and was something inches high. he was in the 50th percentile for both of those, and his noggin is in the 90th. woop woop. he's got a big brain in there. ;)

he loves his jumperoo. loooooves it. after fighting it for a while, he has developed a love for jumping just like his brother.

greysen idolizes zak. that kid can do no wrong to him. zak can look at him, and he will just laugh and laugh, or start yelling at him all excitedly. it's so cute.

he can babble "mom" "dad" and i think he is saying zak when he shrieks "AAAHH" when zak walks by, but who knows.

he's still an amazing sleeper, 7-7 with one or two naps depending on what we're doing for the day. loooove that.

hopefully the next time i post a milestone for him, he will have actually passed a milestone. ;) it's ok bud, we still love you! muah!

memorial day.

we spent this past weekend visiting some of our favorite friends in the whole wide world. it was a fantastic trip, made even better by the fact that levi could actually go with us! four days entirely devoted to us! i couldn't even tell you the last time that has happened. in any case, it was amazing. we took over their whole house, most likely got their kids sick, shopped, crafted, went on a double date {say what?!}, ate, swam, ate more and partied hard like we did back in our college days. =)

of course, we didn't manage to take any pictures until we were walking out the door, so here are a few morsels of us.

these two are my favorite. they are totally cute and i love how much they love to play together, even when they don't see each other that often. i love it.

this little monster came down with a nasty cold the day before we left, and was very unpleasant the majority of the weekend. the only time he was happy was swimming or during any form of being outside.

he also has developed a new passion for standing on things. more like an obsession. no, he cannot crawl yet. {we thought zak was slow at learning how to move, but this kid.... he's like a snail.} but he loves to stand on us, on chairs, on couches, on anything that might be used to prop him up. it's cute, until he gets stuck and/or falls because he can't figure out how to get down yet. hurrah for babies!

it's a good thing he's just so totally adorable.

p.s. i got my hair cut. and i hate it. it's pretty much the worst. too short. waaaay too short. i'm pretty sure i spent the entire weekend complaining about it. i will eventually get over it, but for now, my vision of a dark long bob has been cut entirely wrong. sigggh. it'll grow out eventually, i know. levi suggested i get pregnant to make my hair grow faster. so witty that one.

giants.

disclaimer: the spouse and i do not like baseball. as has been decided last night, it is boring as freak. i think it's an acquired taste, but both of us unanimously decided that when we have bagillions of dollars we would much rather buy season tickets to basketball than to baseball. sooo. 15 years from now, we'll be on that. assuming we don't live in the middle of nowhere.

however, we did need to try it one time. since everyone here is obsessed with the giants, we needed to experience the game just to say we've been there. lucky for us, we i have connections and got us great seats right above the visitors box, so that was pretty exciting.

unfortunately, it was freeeezing cold last night. leading to very flattering pictures of my humongous coat to keep me warm. siggggh. at least i was mostly warm though.

i also happened to meet up with a good friend from BYU and our awesomely awesome freshman dorm days. she lives in monterey now with her hubby and it was so great to see them!

unfortunately, while we were talking with them, we missed the inning where the giants scored 6 runs, so that was kind of a downer, buuuut whatevs. not like either of us were that invested in the game. haha

despite us not being hard core giants fans, we had a great time talking like adults and just hanging out. i feel like i see less and less of this guy nowadays. so i love our date nights regardless of what we're doing.

painted ladies.

what? levi was home? this is weird. not only was he home, he didn't have homework or a test to study for, so i snatched that business up and made plans for our one weekend together! of course, we needed to do something on our bucket list, so that maybe he will be in some of the pictures with us. we were going to go to alcatraz on such a gorgeous day, however we decided we should probably do something a little more cost effective until we examine our budget for the month.... ten eleven days later.

sooo, we decided to go to the painted ladies and have a picnic. i'll be honest, i was thinking of crissy fields when i put in "painted ladies" on google maps. shows how much i know about san francisco. that will be another adventure i guess.

in any case, the weather was amazing, and despite our children being up way too late a little late with their favorite babysitter, {ensuing the grouchies upon us before 9:00}we managed to get there and play at the park, force the males to take pictures that they didn't want to take and bask in the glorious sunshine that has decided to no longer make itself present by our house. hello summertime. thumbs down.

this is what i deal with now. they used to be so cute in their pictures. this also shows their attitudes today. lovely. just lovely.

it's a good thing they're just so totally adorable.

because otherwise.... this whole "i refuse to look at the camera without some sort of bribery" stage would give into "mom will never take pictures of you again" stage.

i present to you. san francisco.

give me your cracker yo.

greysen did not want to take pictures either, but insisted on eating a million strawberries just like this. go big or go home i say.

say what? a smile? together? it's a miracle.

we had such a great time with dad, playing on the playground, swinging, playing frisbee, picnicking.... if only he could join us on our adventures more often!

travels.

the beasts and i went to phoenix and mexico this last week to escape the mundane and visit my mom. it was a fabulous trip. and like always, we were ready to come home and sleep in our own beds. oh and see daddy. zak was ready for that after day three of six i think.

we started our one day in phoenix by going to enchanted island with some old friends from provo! the place really is a dump. however, the customer service there was totally awesome. after trying to close two hours early, and us fighting the power because kathryn drove two hours from tucson to go there, they let the kiddies stay and ride as many rides as they wanted for the last two hours. the boys were in heeeeaaaven.
the best part-- they had a train zak could ride endless amount of times.

after our brief visit to enchanted island, we saw one of my favorite pregnant roommates, but alas. we have no pictures of that. however, i did get to go with her to buy her first baby girl clothes, so that was super exciting!

the following day, we drove across the border to mexico. i was a little skeptical, seeing as how could there be a beach so close to the border? but winneerrrr. it was fabulous. if i lived in AZ, i would totally go there all the time. also, crossing the border? totally legit. guns, biting dogs and everything. you actually cross the border like 4 times on the way back to the US because they don't want people picking up people on the other side.

doesn't it just look amazing? it totally was.

this kid is seriously the cutest. love him.  after lounging at the beach, teaching zak how to swim, and taking naps, we went to dinner.

ahhhh. paradise.

i just want to squish this baby all the time. he's just so handsome.

the day we left i tried to take some pictures with the beasts, but they refused.

greysen got ridiculously tired and refused to be cute. however, he did want to cuddle for like a second, so that was pretty cute.

in exciting news, zak has officially re-learned how to swim. and happily i might add. it's amazing how much the warm water makes a difference for him. he's such a little baby, but he did so great! he swam the entire time we played in the "family hot tub", which is a brilliant idea btw. watch my proudest vacation moment.
we had such a great time with grandma kim, the warm weather, and sunshine. thanks for taking us!!
