mexican.

why hello 2014! my blog following/posting has gotten to be quite dismal. i'd be surprised if anyone still reads this besides jennilee because she is my one and only faithful commenter!

i figured that i should write about our amazing adventures from this christmas break since we all know it is never going to happen ever again.

we were lucky enough to go on two crazy vacations right after eachother: playa del carmen, mexico with levi's whole family, and then hawaii with my grandma. it was nuts. amazing. but nuts. i shall devote this post to mexico, and then maybe in three months i'll update about hawaii. haha i'm the worst blogger. how are our children ever going to know how exciting their lives were at ages three and one??

we stayed at an all inclusive that was perfect for the kiddies. unlimited soda and smoothies?? they were in heaven!

unfortunately we only learned at the very end of the trip that the restaurants were waaaaay better than the buffet and that we should have been eating at them the whole time instead of starving ourselves because the buffet was a big thumbs down.

zak's favorite part was playing with his cousins. every morning as soon as he woke up, he asked to go down and play with them, and he was so sad when we had to leave. unfortunately for him, it doesn't look like living by his cousins is in the cards for us any time soon, so he won't be able to do it very often. it was fun watching how excited he was to play with them all the time. that kid is a social butterfly.

greysen on the other hand. man, that kid is sending us through the ropes. he is not a social butterfly. i don't know what to do with a non-social child. he typically has to give everyone the stink eye and stare you down for three days before you can just hand him over to someone else. he didn't warm up to everyone until the second to last day, and it was probably only to auntie kassie and grandpa. for some reason he was obsessed with levi on this trip and refused to be carried/touched/looked at by anyone besides him. i'm not complaining because i was free as a bird, but it was a little obnoxious for those who never see him.
greysen pretty much looked like this face the entire trip! soooo pleasant.

zak and auntie kassie had lots of fun. actually zak had fun with all his aunties, but i don't have pictures of them for some reason. good job taking pictures mom.

side note: i love this speedo swim suit. they're actually a size five, so they'll be even better when they actually fit him. so european of him. hehe.
i just realized this super weird santa guy in the background of zak's picture.

santa was supposed to come in parasailing to visit all the kids at the resort, but he missed the beach by a little bit and had to do another go around. it was pretty legit up until he had to start over. i can't imagine walking through the water in that super hot santa suit. fuuuun.

 nice face greysen. ugh.

the two pictures of the trip that proved that for one minute he was pleasant. it's a good thing that kid is adorable when he's happy. because man.... we were not impressed with his attitude.

zak on the other hand took great pictures the whole trip! i was surprised because my pictures of him usually involve him yelling "cheese" and turning around/looking away/not smiling etc. etc.

my end observations of our trip:
1. our children should be sent to canada to play with their cousins all the time. and i say sent, so that i can stay home and sleep in for once in my life.
2. cancun is for those overly tanned, single, size 0 peeps.
3. it is only appropriate for you to go topless in cancun if: you are either a 00 and super ridonkulously skinny with waaay too fake boobs or a size 20 and your boobs are hiding your belly button. one or the other.
4. same goes for thong swimsuits. and speedos.
5. greysen could live on guacamole and chips. he did actually, because that kid doesn't eat real food.
6. i loooove mexico water. sooooo warm.
7. 45 minutes of snorkeling is my extent. i have no desire to go scuba diving.
8. i do love me some boogie boarding though. zak did not. especially because dad forced him on it, left him and then he {luckily} rode the wave all the way into the sand without falling off. i thought for sure he'd be a goner and he would never go in the ocean ever again.
9. i'd much rather sit on the beach than in the pool.
10. mexico rain is leeeegit.
11. we should family vacay more often. it was pretty awesome!
