while we were at playgroup today, mom went to move her car and came back to everyone laughing hysterically at baby. he was insanely laughing, which he doesn't usually do, moderate laugh yes, but never "i can't breathe, you need to stop being so funny" laughing. i may have been a little offended that he laughed so hard at other people and not us, so we tried tonight. this is the tail end of his laughing spell so it's not nearly as good. but it was still pretty funny to listen to. he's quite the little character.

firsts.
this has been a week of firsts for the baby. it's so fun seeing him get bigger and actually like to do things with mom.
1. we got our first pictures taken! not only was the baby not feisty like usual, he actually had quite a personality while taking these. he's a cute little monster. ps. we got this pic for free at sears, and got another 10x13 free if we ordered it online. yes, we are cheap. and awesome.
2. we've been practicing sitting up! he can do it by himself for a few seconds now. this toy has been a big helper. we love it. =)
3. we know what we want. hamburger? without a doubt he's mommy kid. =)
4. we started on rice cereal! not only do we love it, we get a little sidetracked while eating... the bib tastes delicious.
5. we ate from a bottle for the first time. it's weird to think that this is the first time ever, but he is an expert switching back and forth from nursing to bottle. he also now likes to suck on the nipples he grabs from the bottle holder on the counter, he's so smart. the flash got him in this picture but it was funny. =)
it's been a pretty adventurous week for us. we are so cool!

cinco!
i know i say this every month, but isn't it the weirdest thing ever that my child is so old?? he's 5 months today! {well technically, it's tomorrow, but whoever reads this will probably do it on monday, so its today}
its so crazy how fast it goes. even though everyone says that, i feel like we just had him.
here's what we love:
1. reading. we LOVE books. especially the disney ones that we can hold/eat.
2. grabbing our feet. this is quite the accomplishment since we've just learned this new trick. our belly was too big, and coordination a little lacking but we got it! someday soon we'll get them in our mouth too.
3. escaping. as much as we love the bumbo, we've learned how to contort ourselves to almost fall out of it, and make mom worried when she looks over and suddenly sees us almost tipping over. and yes, mom did catch us in the middle of getting very angry in the picture. notice the tears. and the picture in the back too. haha.
4. being naked. if we could all the time, we would. and no, i don't frequently leave money around for my child to play with and/or choke on, i was in the process of emptying the wallet. {this picture makes me laugh everytime i look at it. i just want to squish his little cheeks.}
5. mr. octopus. he continues to be a running favorite here in the lowry household. however, we have added the fish and turtle discs {written in 4 languages, to make him smarter i might add} to our list of things to play with. we currently enjoy holding on to both of them while shaking the entire thing very dramatically.
6. mr. turtle. he is originally a bath toy, but after much successful playing while mom's trying to get ready in the bathroom, he ventured out to be part of our everyday activities. also, we can fit his whole head in our mouth and yell while doing so. be impressed.
7. being outside. not only do we like it, we also calm down when having a huge fit as soon as mom walks out the door. we also need a walk in the stroller {yes we do walk him like a dog every day, minus the leash} every morning otherwise we have a smack down all day. i have no idea why, since his mother isn't a huge fan of the outdoors, but for some reason this kid needs his vitamin D.
8. kitty. we now acknowledge her presence when she tries to stifle me and rub herself all over us when i'm with mom or dad and we like to pet her/pull her hair/tail. she is very good with us and lets us do not very nice things to her.
9. mom singing to me. {yes, she sure does have such a beaaautiful voice} our favorites are "popcorn popping", "5 little ducks", and "hinges".
10. mom and dad being ridiculous. we're so entertaining. =)

shoot.
soooo this morning i may or may not have taken a slide down the stairs. thank goodness it was without a baby buuuut then i hurt my foot. and i thought it was just going to pass. but then i went to the urgent care because it hurt so bad and i couldn't put any weight on it or move it.
and then they told i sprained the tendons in my foot. and i had to be on crutches for 3 weeks. what am i going to do with the boy who hates sitting in our house or being in any one place? how do i carry him to the car when there's stairs all the way down to the parking? shoooot.

productive melissa.
wohoo! it's the weekend!! after much being done this week with classes and all starting, it will be so nice to get to the weekend. ha. my two classes. it doesn't even feel like i'm going to school. however when i walk on campus, i feel a sense of relief and joy that i don't think i ever had before. it was sooooo nice to be back! and have time away from the babe. plus, my classes this semester are fantastic. cross cultural familial and human development i think is going to be a fascinating class. my research methods one... ehhh... not so much but that's ok.
so i spent the rest of the week, when i was not doing homework, doing some crafty snafty things. and of course, i must blog about them. hehe.
{this is my new dry erase board i made. get rid of the humongous nasty white one. this one's much more classy! plus, it's just a picture frame with fabric underneath it. so freaking easy!}
{this one's the same concept as the dry erase, except it has the days of the week underneath so i can write down our meals much cuter than just on the calendar. i haven't quite finished it yet because Joann's ran out of my scrapbook letters so i have to wait until they order more in, but i just couldn't resist hanging it up anyways}
{i love this one. i think it looks pretty snazzy. livens up the kitchen a bit don't ya think?}
{don't mind my gross self portraits, but i do love the new rosette's i've made. i'm planning on making several more to add to my collection.}
{of course i couldn't resist doing the child's name as well. every baby needs a letter/name in their bedroom.}
{aaaand this is what i found when i went in to take the picture. bad bad kitty.}
all in all i think it's been a pretty successful week. i have several craft shows coming up that i have to make headbands for so i shall be doing that for ages now. gotta make some money, so i can spend some money! =)
