babby.

we have a baby! wahoo! it's fabulous to think that today would have been the day I would have been induced and been doing all that fun labor business. but anyways, zakary levi was born on april 13th at 1:54. He's a big beasty, even though he doesn't look like it, he weighed about 8 lb 10 oz and is 21 inches tall.

our story is quite interesting seeing as we went to the hospital not planning on having a baby anytime soon. we had our perinatal appt on monday to get an ultrasound and see how long we could wait to be induced. we sat there monitoring his heart rate for about 20 minutes, and the nurse told us that he was very happy in there, plenty of fluid and not a whole bunch of room left. she went to have the doc look at his results and then she came back saying that he wanted us to be induced because of this one "blip" in his heart rate (which we think was because he just moved around). when we asked exactly when she meant we should be induced she was like "oh, now... go over to orem and check in".

that was the weirdest thing we had ever heard that's for sure. so we went home, got our bag packed, because we all know melissa didn't pack it ahead of time, and went to carl's jr to get my last delicious meal before going in.

too bad we checked in at 1:00 pm and they checked the babe, and said that they weren't quite sure why they sent us over there because he was quite happy in there. but they said that they weren't going to make me leave so we were just going to wait. they gave me some drugs to soften my cervix and dilate some, which i don't think really did anything, but eventually at about 3:00 am my water broke and things began kicking in...

i will say that i'm a wimp, and immediately got drugs as soon as i felt contractions so that i couldn't feel anything. and it was fabulous. i slept all night and then through most of the morning, until about 11:30 when they came in and told me i was dilated to a 10 and we were going to push soon. that was weird too, seeing as i had no feeling of huge contractions at all. but we started pushing at about 1:00 and then at 1:54 our little babe came! he is precious, and has lots and lots of hair which i was really excited for!

he is perfect! he surprisingly is awake and bright eyed a ton! he's pretty mellow and i love watching him, and kissing him, and doing his hair, and cuddling with him. feeding him is not so enjoyable, buut we're working through it. anyways, we love our little babe and i'm sure he'll eventually love us just as much. =)
