levi's surgery on his ACL went fine last friday... we found out he tore his ACL 100% and his meniscus as well. always fun finding out it was worse than you thought, but he was surprisingly awake and not hurting for the most part. until he went to physical therapy and they made him work it. twice a week. thank goodness, my mother in law was here to snuggle the child because levi basically can't do anything for himself. which is tough with a child who hates being inside. {especially on gorgeous days like this week has been} he has enjoyed his walks and partying with grandma immensely this past week. mom's going to have to work to keep up with his high demands now.
but then levi went to take a shower on wednesday, and standing up in it hurt so bad he almost threw up. i shoulda known that was a sign. but the physical therapist said that's to be expected. then he went to bed at 6:30 because he didn't feel good. shoulda thought about that too. then i went to bed at 10:00 and he had his arms clutching his chest in an X and thought that was a little weird, but he woke up and sounded fine. next thing i know it's 3:00 am and he says his chest is hurting. shoot. then i have dreams about him stopping breathing in the night. that was lovely. 4:45 rolls around and he said it's getting worse. so we're off to the ER. the nice thing is that breathing problems get first precedence in the emergency room.
then the CAT scan. "you have several blood clots in your lungs levi". awesome. then we hear the doctor say to the nurse outside "he's got 16 of em in there", and she's shocked. double awesome. "you're going to need to stay here until they're gone". shooooot. soo hospital for "several" days. and my mother in law was leaving that morning. thank goodness, i can call my mom and she was there that evening to take the child. because for some reason he hates the hospital. i don't know why... he was born there. but that was sooo helpful having her here!
but baby did quite enjoy dad's bed though, when they made him go walk around for physical therapy.
{this is the life.}
{staring at the tv. of course}
{notice the string of drool onto the call phone. haha}
{doing what? playing the cake mania game, of course!}
it took me about 2 days to realize that this really was a serious problem. he has to give himself shots twice a day until his clotting factors are within the range they're supposed to be. p.s. each day of shots is $120 bucks. add that up for at least two weeks. suck face. and he has to take his medicine for at least 6 months. and get his blood measured twice a week. and monitor the amount of vitamin K he eats forever. ugh. what happened to our life that was just getting a little surgery on his knee? i don't know. but i miss it already.i will say that i am very, very grateful that it was fixed fast and that he came home from the hospital today. we just were not completely prepared for the changes. especially the monetary ones. holy cow.
but i cannot end a post that depressingly. sooo here are some hilarious pictures from asher's FIRST birthday! and no, we didn't actually get pictures of asher because it was a challenge in itself to get him to take any. to say that he hates his costume is probably an understatement. he whines and cries the whole time. just like i imagine a lobster would. i don't think the claws tied to his hands are his favorite. haha. but it makes me laugh hysterically every time we put it on him. and when i look at these pictures. haha.
{yes, lobsters do play with trucks}
{dad's knee looks lovely too}
{we have about 20 pictures of him like this. not looking at the camera because he has better things to do}
{oh precious.}
{he was totally unprepared for this one, but his chipmunk cheeks are hilarious. he really does store food in them. i hope he never grows outta them.}
{wahoo it's asher's birthday!}
{we love cups. and drinking. notice we took the costume off. it lasted all of about 30 minutes before he clearly had enough}
i hope that the coming weeks are not like these at all. but something tells me they will be, because levi has dental school interviews now! oh, he also got accepted for interviews at his #1 choice, University of Pacific! so wahoo on that one! now, to only hear back from the other 6 we're still waiting on.
oh melissa, im sorry its been such a long week, i hope that it ended better then it started with ashers party:) let us know if you need anything!
ReplyDeleteOh man! That all sounds very stressful! I know how you feel with the whole trial thing that comes out of left field. I hope things get less bamboozled soon. The halloween pictures are really cute. We don't do halloween here in Australia- but I wish that we did!
