remember how i posted about how my child being a daredevil & how he's going to break all his bones? well, the next day he proved my point. i'm not sure if it was karma for me writing it or what, but in any case it was suspicious.
to start off my story, i will say that he is not a climber. he hasn't figured out how to climb onto chairs or the couch, so i usually don't have to worry about him when we're out and about. however, last friday he decided to be a daredevil at his friend's house and climb a step up a bunk bed ladder while playing in their room. and then as he was getting back down, he fell. and smacked his face against the rung.
i didn't think anything of it until later that night, because he wasn't bleeding, and he just cried for a minute and then he was good to go. but when he was going to bed, my spouse told me to come here and check out his face:
{if gross stuff grosses you out, scroll down quickly}
{he doesn't even look like it's bothering him right??}
well it broke off so there was just the root left on saturday night, and then we went to the beach because we couldn't get an appointment anywhere to take him in. buuuuut luckily, someone we know goes to dental school and they have a pediatric clinic there.
after scoping him out, they took x-rays and then decided they needed to take the root out. {this is the part where mom leaves because seeing him strapped down to a surfboard and screaming bloody murder makes her cry}
{dr. dad helping out}
but it only took ten minutes, and while he apparently screamed the whole time {thank goodness for dads who can handle that stuff}, he calmed down and was golden afterwards, like nothing happened. now he just won't have a tooth there until he's seven.
today, we will put the bunk bed ladder up. and watch him play a little more closely. hurrah for reckless children.
